FAIR OAKS RECREATION ASSOCIATION (FORA) NEWS

FORA wishes everyone a happy and healthy new year!

With a new pool management contract award in the works, these past few months have been unusually busy for the Board. We hope to finalize a contract for a new 3-year term by the end of the month. Once this is settled, the countdown to March’s Annual meeting comes to the forefront. During this period, as termed by our President, a number of “front of the house” chores begin:

(1) A budget must be prepared, which outlines not only anticipated revenues and operating costs, but costs that consider long term projects and revisions to Board operations. We anticipate contracting for a manager to oversee maintenance and capital projects
(2) The annual revision of the tangible property list for the County of Fairfax
(3) The close out of FORA’s books for 2011. On top of this, a Board subcommittee is busy with bylaw revisions; and, as required by Virginia State law, FORA has contracted for a cash reserve study. The study will help us determine the 2012 membership dues.

As always, we continue to invite pool members to volunteer with FORA, either on the Board or on special committees that help the Board establish priorities and complete necessary tasks.
