Swim Test Information

Swim tests are managed and administered by the lifeguards at the pool. Please ask a lifeguard on duty when the next swim test will be administered. Typically, swim tests are given during adult swim breaks.

The swim test requirements are as follows:

  1. Swim one length (25m) of the pool unassisted.
  2. Tread water for one (1) minute.

To the member:

Upon passing the swim test and are 9 -12, you will be given a blue band. This means they may stay at the pool unaccompanied by an adult until 6pm. If you pass the swim test and are 8 or younger, you will be given a orange swim band. This means they can use the diving board. Swim bands are yours to keep and the first band is free. Please bring your band with you whenever you come to the pool. Bands are your responsibility.

What to do if you lose your swim band:

If you are given a swim band and lose the band or fail to bring it with you, you may be asked to retake the swim test. You will be given a paper wrist band to wear during the visit.

Why do I need a swim band?

Swim bands identify you to the lifeguards as someone that can use the diving board and diving well safely.

Additional swim bands can be purchased by members that pass the swim test for $1.
